The Super Bowl Affect

                                                by Jasmyne M.

Colin Kaepernick and Ray Lewis are two shining stars in the Superbowl XLVII. Millions of people will gather around the television screaming for their favorite team. This is the first time when the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens will meet in the great city of New Orleans, LA. Both teams are loaded with talent and the game will be a fun one to watch. I personally love football and would love to have a free ticket to watch the game; however, I, like many, will watch it at home wearing my favorite football jersey of red and white! I thought I would put questions to the test of other loyal football fans…who will win the game? Do the even like football? Are you planning on going to the game? If not, what do you plan to do? And most importantly, do you think McGehee should have Monday off from school?

My first fan that interviewed was Katherine. Katherine likes football was not able to attend the game because it is a school night and she doesn’t have a ticket. She wants the Ravens to win only because she doesn’t really care about either team so she just flipped a coin to pick one… heads it’s the Ravens, tails it’s the 49ers, but when I asked her what team she thought would win the game, she picked the 49ers. Every year she goes to a Superbowl party and this year is no different. She is watching it at the Brunos’ house with friends. When asked if McGehee should be off on Monday, the answer was clearly a screaming, “YES, because we stay up late until midnight an then we have to get up early.”

I also chose to interview Angelle. Angelle is a 49er’s fan because she has family that lives in California. She likes football (and has joined me at many LSU games) but will be not be attending the Superbowl this year, (however her parents are going to the game which just doesn’t seem fair?). Angelle normally watches the games at home every year. She thinks that the 49ers will win because they have a great quarterback. When I asked her if McGehee should be off on Monday a simple “yes” with a big smile said it all!
