Upper School Trip to Ghana

by Rachel S.
The McGehee upper school, headmistress Ms.Eileen Powers, and a few other teachers recently went on a trip to Ghana, on February 7, 2013. There are many different students from different grades in the upper school that went. They have four freshmen, two sophomores, and two juniors going. The girls had to make several different stops and several different flights to reach Ghana. The entire trip took thirty-one hours.
The upper school students that went on the trip to Ghana did a lot of fundraising before they took the trip with a duds day and a book drive. While they are in Africa they will mainly be visiting the girls there and experiencing the African culture. With the duds day they raised two thousand five hundred dollars; that’s enough money for eleven girls to have a scholarship next year. Junior Sully Hildebrand said, “We are traveling from the bottom of Ghana, all the way to the top.” The girls are going to Bolgatanga, Accra, Kumasi, and Tamale. The girls came back from Ghana on February18th, 2013.
